Sea Point is a dense, historic strip along the Atlantic coast, known for its long promenade and mix of older apartment blocks and modern developments. Private gardens are limited compared to suburbs further up the slope like Fresnaye, so our work here often involves complex grounds and individual specimen trees on smaller stands.
Constant coastal wind and salt exposure affect trees along this stretch much as they do elsewhere on the Atlantic Seaboard, and we check for this during every assessment. Older apartment blocks sometimes have mature courtyard trees that have survived decades of coastal exposure, and these need careful, experienced assessment given their age and position.
Freestanding homes further up the slope toward Fresnaye tend to have more garden space and less immediate wind exposure than the dense promenade-facing strip.
